One of the Library's missions is to preserve audio-visual materials. Library employees who work at the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC) in Culpeper, Virginia carry out that mission on a daily basis. One of the formats they work with is nitrate film, which is fragile and flammable. This is an example of how old nitrate film is stored, inspected and repaired at the NAVCC.
