This machine is a replica of the largest steam tractor in history. Nine of 150 CASE were built by the J.I. Case Co. between 1905 and 1907, but none survived. Steam tractor enthusiast Kory Anderson recreate it using the original blueprints from the Case company, with some 50 people, $1.5 million and 4,000 hours invested. The Avery Machinery Company was another veteran of the agricultural business that started in 1874. Avery built steam tractors for 18 years before producing its first gas tractor in 1909.The 14-28 has two forward speeds and a single reverse. To 'shift' from forward to reverse, the entire engine is slid on the frame. It is powered by a four-cylinder horizontally opposed kerosene engine.
