When we bought our farmhouse the ceilings for 6’8” tall. I’m 6’2” so not a lot of head room. We decided to take out the living room ceiling (losing our attic) and then vaulted it. The process was fun because it was probably the most instant transformations we did. We went from hobbit hole living room to cathedral. When we bought this 1930’s farmhouse we noticed that the ceilings in the living room were low. Like 6’8” low. Like we have friends who would be just inches away from hitting their head on our living room ceiling. After searching around the house we realized the attic was HUGE… and at one point in the house’s history the roof had actually been raised.
