Check out this shocking species⚡ This lesser electric ray (Narcine bancroftii) measured around 86 mm, was recently caught in a bay trawl off Matagorda bay! These critters are commonly found partially buried along sandy shorelines, seagrass beds and oftentimes near coral reefs. The lesser electric ray uses specialized organs to generate an electric shock ranging from 14 to 37 volts, which they use to stun prey and defend themselves.
