Hiking to discover more of Beartown State Forest, we took the four mile Sky Peak Loop starting at Perry's Sawmill and Dam next to the Rigg's stone house. This trail was perfect for dogs with plenty of mud puddles and beautiful stream crossings. The bridge near Beartown Swamp was dry stone laid of exceptional quality, ferns, hardwoods and hemlock were seen near Sky Peak summit where the Appalachian Trail almost parallels the trail.
