Do you need base coat? The answer is no (on acrylic at least!) Personally, I don’t use base because I try to minimize the layers of gel polish I’m using to ensure a sharp shape and I find it unnecessary. Instead of base, I leave a texture on my acrylic for the gel to adhere to, this will avoid any peeling. During the times I’m doing designs, I use acetone to “melt” some of the texture to avoid it bleeding. Imagine those scratches and the polish grabbing onto each other, which is also a good idea
