The head of  Volkswagen’s works council Daniela Cavallo has made it clear that the IG Metall union and the works council do not want to fight but “let off steam”.

VW workers have walked off the job this morning in Germany in reaction to proposed staff cuts and factory closures.

Employees staged warning strikes in protest against the German carmaker’s plans for potential factory closures and sweeping cuts to jobs and pay.
