The administration of US President Donald Trump has asked the Supreme Court to suspend a lower court ruling that temporarily blocked the deployment of National Guard troops in Chicago and the surrounding areas.

Donald Trump's administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday to allow his deployment of National Guard troops to the Chicago area, as the Republican president moves to dispatch military personnel to a growing number of Democratic-led locales and expand the use of the armed forces for domestic purposes.

The U.S. Supreme Court’s new term kicked off last week with culture-war topics and presidential authority on the docket.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday appeared inclined to limit the use of the Voting Rights Act to force states to draw electoral districts favorable to minority voters.
