Today, Kim’s legacy continues through a new organization called Seuk’s Army, created in his memory with a mission to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals in need.
After Kim’s death, other rescue pilots formed the nonprofit Seuk’s Army. The organization is working to bring mobile spay and neuter clinics to areas in the South that need them.
Seuk Kim left behind a finance career to chase his dream of becoming a pilot. He took off one day in November with four dogs on board, a trip that would not go according to plan.
Seuk Kim told an air traffic controller he hit turbulence before starting to descend, but the report does not come to a conclusion about the crash's cause.
In addition to his brother, Seuk Kim is survived by his mother, Jiho Kim, his wife, Anna Kang, and their three children, ages 16, 14 and 13.
Seuk Kim, 49, died when his plane carrying three dogs crashed in the Catskill Mountains. Two survived. A 2-month-old dog named Lisa did not.

Anna Kang, Seuk’s widow, paid tribute to her late husband in a Nov. 27 Facebook post, as well, writing: “I am heart broken [sic]. My husband Seuk Kim gained his angel wings doing what he loved.
