Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Watt s is saying goodbye to football. The team released him on Monday after consulting with his representatives and medical experts, who all recommended that Watts medically retire after suffering a severe neck injury.

The Steelers have released Ryan Watts after the rookie suffered a neck injury last preseason, saying it's in his "best interest to discontinue playing football."

The former Texas cornerback sustained a neck injury during a preseason game last season and won't return to football.
