Any snow and ice that melts Friday is likely to refreeze overnight, and black ice could be a danger, according to the NWS.

When temperatures drop overnight, these puddles of water freeze into black ice. This scenario is especially common after snowstorms where the sun partially melts snow during the day, but the temperature drops again at night.

Moisture and a mix of precipitation should start to move into the metroplex from the southwest starting in the morning to the mid-morning hours.

A burst of heavy precipitation moved over North Texas between 6 and 10 a.m., leading to accumulating snowfall for some towns in that region.

After several days of freezing temperatures, snow, sleet and rain fell in North Texas on Thursday, bringing travel disruptions in the air and on the ground, school closures and upending a region that doesn’t often see frozen precipitation.
