A look into Nolan Arenado’s career to this point
On Tuesday, January 13, star third baseman Nolan Arenado was traded for the second time in his storied career. Arenado turns 35 in April and is set to spend 2026-27 with the Arizona Diamondbacks before hitting unrestricted free agency at 37 in 2028.
The St. Louis Cardinals took a major step toward a future-focused rebuild this offseason by trading three respected veterans: Nolan Arenado, Willson Contreras and Sonny Gray.
Arenado batted. .237 with 12 homers and 52 RBIs last season. He has two years remaining on his contract worth $42 million, with salaries of $27 million this year and $15 million in 2027. The Cardinals will be sending Arizona $22 million to offset this year's salary and $9 million to offset next year's pay.
