The Gators are dealing with an absence of their own ahead of the rivalry matchup. On Wednesday evening, Florida head coach Billy Napier revealed that redshirt freshman defensive back Aaron Gates will miss the rest of the season following a knee injury that will require surgery. Gates went down during the program's win against Ole Miss last weekend.

Even with the loss of the Florida game, FAMU still has several FBS games upcoming over the second half of the decade. It is scheduled to take on Miami in 2026 and the University of Georgia in 2028. The final weekend of the college football regular season is nearly upon us and as has been the tradition since the 2002 campaign the Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles will face off in one of the more notable rivalry games in the sport’s history.

Florida State has already dismissed Alex Atkins (Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line), Adam Fuller (Defensive Coordinator), and Ron Dugans (Wide Receivers). With this season either finishing at 3-9 or 2-10, more moves will be made.

The floodlights will be on at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday as Florida State football hosts Florida in the final game of the Seminoles 2024 season. The Seminoles enter the game sitting at 2-9 and are looking to end a disastrous season with a victory over rivals Florida (6-5).
