University of Nebraska at Omaha men’s basketball player Deng Mayar has died, the school has announced. He was 22 years old. According to the Associated Press, Mayar drowned Saturday in an Utah reservoir. Herriman police responded to a 911 call about Mayar and Sa Mafutaga, 21, who were in distress, the AP reports.

Graduate student Deng Mayar joined the Mavericks this past offseason after two years at fellow Summit League institution North Dakota.
