Welker is a former Patriots legend who served in the role under Mike McDaniel for three seasons. He worked with an explosive receiving duo in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle during his time with the team. However, after another disappointing end to a season, the Dolphins thought it was best to move in a different direction.

On Friday, the Dolphins fired Welker after his third season working a wide receiver room that included Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Hill quit during Miami's final game of the regular season and blew up after the contest, saying he was done with the Dolphins, something Miami and his agent Drew Rosenhaus have since walked back.

A former champion player for the New England Patriots is now looking for new employment. The Miami Dolphins announced Friday that they have fired wide receivers coach/pass game specialist Wes Welker.
