Covering veteran players in Spring Training has been an education in what actually matters. “Strictly the win-loss record,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider joked before Saturday’s Grapefruit League opener.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is easily the Blue Jays’ top story this season. Guerrero had imposed a deadline for Toronto to extend him, which passed on February 18, 2025. Instead, he will focus all his energy on his walk-year and deal with the paperwork after the season.

There have been a ton of eyes on the Toronto Blue Jays as of late, as they’ve finally emerged from their winter-long hibernation to – once again – screw up what should’ve been an easy entrance into the “win” column for the organization.
