Blue Ghost aced its lunar landing attempt on March 2, touching down near Mons Latreille, a solitary lunar peak in the vast basin Mare Crisium ("Sea of Crises") in the northeastern region of the moon 's near side. The spacecraft quickly got to work on its science objectives, including taking a stunning image on the lunar sunrise.

The Blue Ghost mission to the moon has deployed one its NASA instruments, drilling into the moon's surface to collect information about temperature.

It was a perfect moon landing. Although no easy feat, Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander descended in a controlled fashion, and without mishap, to the lunar surface on March 2, becoming the first commercial spacecraft to have a fully successful landing on the moon.
