The 49ers have some thinking to do. This is the same guy who led them to a Super Bowl in his first season as a full-time starter. San Francisco went 12-5 during the 2023 regular season, and Purdy passed for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns.

Humphries—age 31—spent his first nine seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, who selected him with the 24th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He earned Pro Bowl honors in 2021, but tore his ACL in December of '23 and was released ahead of the '24 season. Humphries signed a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs last November.

Brock Purdy's contract extension is officially in the spotlight following the conclusion of the NFL Draft on Saturday. Nothing was going to happen in the draft to change Purdy's future. San Francisco has to pay him if they want to keep their franchise quarterback around for the long term.
