Several brands of canned tuna, including Trader Joe's, Costco and Genova, were recalled due to a risk of botulism after the manufacturer said they had defective pull tabs that may cause leaks.

Canned tuna sold at Iowa Trader Joe's locations has been recalled due to possible food poisoning and other dangers, federal officials announced.

The recall was triggered by "a manufacturing defect that may compromise the integrity of the product seal (especially over time), causing it to leak, or worse, be contaminated with clostridium botulinum," the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA) said.
