As Philadelphia’s SEPTA prepares to eliminate regional rail service on several lines it leases from Amtrak, the national rail operator says the move could affect its ability to maintain intercity

Traffic in the Philadelphia region is about to get a lot worse. Due to the SEPTA funding crisis, hundreds of thousands of additional vehicles could hit the roads, according to experts, turning already slow commutes into a daily grind.

Amtrak officials said SEPTA cuts may impact trains between Philly, New York and Harrisburg as well as services throughout the Northeast Corridor.
