At least two people have died from a severe tornado-producing storm that hit northern Texas and at least 20 families have been displaced, with many homes sustaining major damage.

"Please know this: Wise County takes care of Wise County, and we are going to stand strong and we're going to stand together," County Judge J.D. Clark said.

North Texas was battered by two confirmed tornadoes Saturday night that killed at least one person and injured six others.

The National Weather Service confirms at least one tornado, an EF-2, touched down in North Texas Saturday night, as deadly and devastating spring storms swept through Wise and Parker counties, killing at least two and displacing dozens of families.

Runaway Bay is in recovery mode after a deadly tornado hit the edges of its southwestern, western, and northern corners, Mayor Herman White said.

Severe weather and at least one tornado hit Saturday night. In Wise County, about 20 families were displaced, with six injuries and one death.

National Weather Service survey teams confirmed Sunday that an EF-2 tornado touched down in Wise County during Saturday’s severe storms, packing winds that reached 135 mph.

The storm caused significant structural damage across several neighborhoods, with homes heavily impacted and access routes blocked by debris and downed utilities.
