Google’s Pixel 10 series debuts Qi2-ready Pixelsnap magnets, with the 10 Pro XL even adding 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging support.
Every phone in the Pixel 10 lineup. announced today, has Qi2 magnetic wireless charging at up to 15W. The Pro XL has Qi2.2 and can charge at up to 25W, which is great and all, but wireless charging isn’t the cool part. The magnets are the cool part.
You'll soon be able to charge your iPhone at 25W with a third-party magnetic charger, but the iPhone 17 could up the ante again.
MagSafe chargers are exclusive and expensive. The Qi2 charging standard brings the same 15W fast wireless magnetic charging to third parties, at a cheaper price point.
WPC hasn't finalized the Qi2 specification yet, so it's unclear what other differences between Qi2 and MagSafe there might be. Looking ahead, we can expect more products with Qi2 to be announced.
