Subway riders were experiencing a variety of delays across New York City's transit system on Thursday morning, after some had a hellish commute the night before due to power loss that left them stuck in tunnels for hours, according to MTA information and multiple reports from commuters.

The trapped riders were eventually led off the stalled trains by firefighters into dark subway tunnels and up service stairways that led to trapdoors in the middle of Brooklyn sidewalks.
