The incident followed a tense back-and-forth game that included nine lead changes, eight ties and ended with OU's defense faltering down the stretch. Kentucky made four of its final five field goal attempts, including the go-ahead bucket with six seconds remaining from former OU player Otega Oweh, who finished with 28 points.

One fan threw a beer at the visiting Wildcats while they left the court and headed to the tunnel following an 83-82 win against the Sooners at the Lloyd Noble Center in Oklahoma. The beer appeared to miss any Kentucky player, although sophomore Brandon Garrison turned around after the can whipped by his head.

Oklahoma’s loss may have been significant, as ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has the Sooners as one of his last four teams in the NCAA Tournament in his latest bracket projections.
