Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has become one of President Trump's most high-profile adversaries, told "CBS News Sunday Morning" in an exclusive interview that he will consider whether to run for president after the 2026 midterm elections.
There's been much speculation as to what's next for Newsom, who can't run again for California governor due to term limits.
Republicans in Texas and North Carolina are moving ahead to gerrymander and pick up GOP seats. Under pressure from Trump, Republicans in Indiana tried to pass mid-cycle redistricting but appear to not have enough votes to pass it. The California measure was Democrats’ response to the Texas redistricting plan that Gov. Greg Abbott signed in August.

The White House accused California Gov. Gavin Newsom of distorting facts after he blamed the Trump administration for highway delays due to the Marine Corps anniversary celebration.
Newsom’s office closed portions of Interstate 5 in California on Saturday for safety reasons due to the Marines firing off live ammunition over the highway.
