The new Smart Play system centers around a new Lego Smart Brick that can play sounds, light up, and interact with other bricks.

LEGO kicked off the year with a major slate of new kits on January 1, 2026, one of the brand’s busiest release days of the year. BB-8 Astromech Droid ($90) — Celebrating a Droid Icon - A fan-friendly release that has already hit shelves is the BB-8 Astromech Droid set.
Lego is aiming to add a new dimension of fun with its interactive Smart Play system.
The event, covering more than 35,000 square feet, will be made up of 2 million LEGO bricks. More than 13,000 LEGO minifigures will be on display and for sale.
The Lego Group unveiled its new SMART Play bricks at CES, the first building sets, featuring Star Wars, are expected to launch in March.
