Following the news that Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their roles as Katniss and Peeta in Sunrise on the Reaping, it’s confirmed that every Hunger Games victor from District 12 will appear on screen at some point in the movie.
Will Woody Harrelson join them? Harrelson famously plays Haymitch in the original Hunger Games movies, and his character is the subject of Sunrise on the Reaping after all. I'm so perplexed that we've heard about the return of Lawrence and Hutcherson before his name coming up first.
The first Hunger Games movie, in which Hutcherson starred alongside Jennifer Lawrence, was released in 2012. The movie was followed by 2013’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, 2014’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and 2015’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
Sunrise on the Reaping will feature Ralph Fiennes, Jesse Plemons, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Joseph Zada, Glenn Close, McKenna Grace, Maya Hawke, and Whitney Peak. The film will be directed by Francis Lawrence based on a script by Billy Ray, and the film will be produced by Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Cameron MacConomy.
That said, I sometimes think Tarantino has some cockamamie hot takes. One recent one concerned Paul Dano being a “weak” actor, and the other concerned his criticisms concerning The Hunger Games, namely that it “ripped off” Battle Royale.
Suzanne Collins has been involved with the adaptation of her Hunger Games books from the very beginning, but here's how she feels about them.
