Police said the man resisted arrest and assaulted officers before he apparently armed himself with metal objects and advanced toward them, which is when he was shot.

Westbrook Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at 36 Arlington Avenue around 3:30 a.m., after receiving a call that a man was hurting his mother inside the home. Police were told the man had mental illness.
