A powerful EF4 tornado struck Enid, Oklahoma, damaging around 40 homes and forcing Vance Air Force Base to shut down indefinitely. The base, a key U.S. Air Force pilot training hub, reported no fatalities but significant disruption to operations.

Community members and service members from Vance Air Force Base are volunteering to assist with cleanup efforts in Enid after an EF-4 tornado struck Thursday.

The tornado damaged homes and struck an Air Force base in Enid, Okla., the local sheriff said. Some people were injured.

KAY COUNTY, Okla. — Meteorologist Mike Grogan and a 2 News photographer positioned themselves to track storms as they developed in Oklahoma and caught two tornadoes on tape. This footage, shot from the GRDA Weather Chaser, shows a tornado in Kay County on the evening of April 23rd.
