Dame Andrea Jenkyns, the former Conservative MP, has joined Reform UK and will stand in a mayoral election for the party next year. Dame Andrea likened her old party to a sinking ship as she was welcomed by Nigel Farage into his party at a press conference in Westminster.

Mr Farage announced at a press conference in central London that Dame Andrea had joined Reform and had also been selected as its candidate in the Greater Lincolnshire mayoral election in May next year. The news of the defection came after Zia Yusuf, the Reform chairman, revealed the party had now exceeded a milestone of 100,000 members.

Reform’s leader Nigel Farage announced Jenkyns’ defection at a press conference this morning (November 28). At the event, it was also revealed that she will be his party’s candidate in the first election for the mayor of Lincolnshire taking place in 2025.
