Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked by Narain Singh Chaura while performing ’sewa’ outside the Golden Temple on Wednesday.

Narain Singh Chaura, the man who allegedly has links to the Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa, was arrested for opening fire at former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal this morning.

The man, identified as Narain Singh Chaura, was overpowered by some people standing outside the Golden Temple.

Bhullar praised their efforts, saying, “Due to the alertness and deployment of our police, this attack attempt was foiled. Our personnel displayed alertness and foiled the attempts. Narain Singh Chaura, who has a criminal record, has been arrested. A case has been registered. There were adequate arrangements for Sukhbir Singh Badal's security.”
