The Social Security Administration recently announced the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2025, and beneficiaries can expect a 2.5% raise (amounting to around $50 per month for the average retiree) heading into next year.

The Supplemental Security Income payment for December, worth up to $943, will go out to millions of beneficiaries in eight days. Beneficiaries will receive two checks this month because the next payment is scheduled to be distributed on Nov. 29, as Dec. 1 is a Sunday, and payments are not distributed on holidays or weekends.
