South Korea's capital, Seoul, has been blanketed by a record November snowfall, causing travel chaos and leaving at least five people dead.

Five people have reportedly died in a cold snap engulfing South Korea, with its capital Seoul facing its third-heaviest snowfall on record. About 142 flights from Seoul have been cancelled as it faces its second day of freezing temperatures, and 76 ferry routes suspended, authorities said.

Seoul on Thursday saw its heaviest November snowfall in more than 100 years, as traffic snarled and flights ground to a halt.
