Man City v Tottenham: Team news
Manchester City make two changes to the side that beat Wolves in the opening game. After scoring off the bench at Molineux, is a first Premier League start for summer signing Rayan Cherki, while Omar Marmoush also comes in.
After Jack Grealish sealed his transfer exit to Everton on a season-long loan, City acted quickly to hand his iconic number ten shirt to Cherki. That decision is partly because of Cherki’s impressive impact in training in his early weeks at City, particularly catching the eye of Pep Guardiola.
Cherki has now decided to switch to the No.10 at Man City, which has become available following the loan departure of Jack Grealish to Everton earlier this week.
Without Rodri, City struggled to defend transitions last season, while their ball progression suffered. They had no direct replacement for the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner, with Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic, Bernardo Silva, and January signing Nico Gonzalez deputising for him without much success.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he's delighted with what he's seeing from summer signing Rayan Cherki.
