British lawmakers voted on Wednesday to ban pro-Palestinian campaign group Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation, after its activists broke into a military base and damaged two planes in protest at what it says is Britain's support for Israel.

Palestine Action is a pro-Palestine organisation which describes itself as a “direct action movement committed to ending global participation in Israel’s genocidal and apartheid regime”. It aims to target “corporate enablers of the Israeli military-industrial complex”.

MPs have voted in favour of legislation to proscribe group Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation, passing by 385 votes to 26. The order, which amends the Terrorism Act 2000, is now expected to be signed by Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and come into effect later this week.
