In a back-and-forth contest, at least in terms of lead changes the first two periods, the latest chapter between these two border rivals ended in a 4-3 win for Finland, with 2011 world champion Mikael Granlund scoring 1:49 into overtime when he fired a shot off a two-on-one past Linus Ullmark.

Mikael Granlund scored the overtime winner, and Finland beat Sweden 4-3 Saturday in an instant classic, back-and-forth game between the bitter rivals at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

The afternoon game was the first of two international rivalry matchups on Saturday, as Team Canada will play Team USA at 8 p.m.

USA matchup later tonight as the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament headliner, the game before it was nothing to ignore. In a big rivalry game between Team Sweden and Team Finland, Finland escaped with a 4–3 overtime win.

Both Vancouver Canucks skaters came out on the losing side of their opening games. Elias Pettersson and Team Sweden dropped a close 4-3 game in overtime to Team Canada, while Kevin Lankinen and Team Finland lost 6-1 to Team USA.
