This one is pretty simple: Host a big nationwide search for some of the best dunkers in the country. It’s a lot of work, but on the flip side, it’s a good content machine if the NBA wants it. Host some regional dunk contests across the country then have them come together for a national event. Then the winner gets to be a part of All-Star weekend.

While this year's 3-Point Contest sports five All-Stars — Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard, New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland, Miami Heat shooting guard Tyler Herro, and Detroit Pistons point guard Cade Cunningham — the 2025 Dunk Contest has zero.

Although the NBA All-Star Game is often an exciting contest featuring the best basketball players in the world, the most anticipated and discussed portion of All-Star weekend itself is usually the Slam Dunk Contest,
