While we’re all waiting for official news about the Switch 2, Nintendo has gone ahead and announced a very different kind of console. The company is teasing a collaboration with Lego that will see the original grey brick known as a Game Boy rendered in Lego blocks.

Nintendo just announced a new console and it’s still not the Switch 2. The console maker is teaming up with Lego to release a Game Boy made of plastic bricks. It follows after a previous collaboration in which the two companies released a Lego NES together,

The Nintendo Game Boy Lego kit is part of Lego’s larger offering of Nintendo-themed kits, which includes a remake of the Nintendo Entertainment System and a retro television, a $300 Lego Great Deku Tree, and a bevvy of Mario kits.

Nintendo has announced its collaboration with LEGO for a set based on the original Game Boy set for a release in October this year.

In a surprise announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Nintendo confirmed that it is partnering with LEGO to release a build-your-own Game Boy. The LEGO Game Boy has been given an October release date, although pricing and number of pieces are yet to be revealed.

With countless leaks swirling around the internet, all eyes are on Nintendo to finally reveal its successor console – the Nintendo Switch 2. In typical Nintendo fashion the company has instead done something left of field by jointly announcing with LEGO a new set that will rebuild the Game Boy.
