The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will not hear Jannik Sinner's hearing on his doping trial before February 11, 2025.

Just when you thought coming into December we wouldn’t be hearing a lot from the tennis world, out of nowhere, the controversies erupted once again. First, it surrounded World No.2 Iga Swiatek and her suspension due to a failed doping test.

Jannik Sinner has had a very difficult year off the tennis court. Although his career has literally taken off in the last twelve months and has proven to be the best player in the world, the Italian ace has also had some problems that have stressed him out and forced him to grow.

The 23-year-old could be banned from tennis for up to two years if the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upholds the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appeal into Sinner’s doping case. He tested positive for clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid on March 10 at the BNP Paribas Open held in Indian Wells, Calif, and on March 18, out of competition.

Tennis has a problem and its not confined to its top players falling foul of the international drug testing program.

Jannik Sinner is set to be able to defend his Australian Open title with the appeal against his doping sanction not set to be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) before the tournament begins in January.

Will 2024 be remembered as the year Jannik Sinner produced one of the all-time great seasons or for the doping asterisk attached to his results? The jury is, quite literally, still out.
