More than 70 amendments later, the Minneapolis City Council passed a 2025 budget late Tuesday night. It comes with a property tax hike that that is lower than Mayor Jacob Frey says is needed, and the mayor is critical of the proposal.

After three days of budget revisions and a whopping 74 amendments, the Minneapolis City Council approved a property tax levy increase of 6.8% — the largest since 2010 — to fund the city budget next year.

Property taxes were one of the big issues of the night, as the Council approved the highest increase in about 15 years.
