The Eaton Fire was first reported around 6:30 p.m. local time near the eastern Los Angeles suburb of Altadena, according to KTTV and CBS News. It has since set 1,000 acres ablaze and remains at 0% containment, according to Cal Fire.

A brush fire broke out Tuesday near the Pacific Palisades, a coastal neighborhood on the west side of Los Angeles, and quickly exploded.

Eleven deaths have been confirmed and more than 12,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed. More than 150,000 people remain under mandatory evacuation orders. Law enforcement sources told The Times that it’s likely many of the small fires will turn out to have been the work of arson.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited the Pasadena Convention Center on Friday to help victims of the Eaton Fire. The couple comforted volunteers and handed out food to the roughly 1,200 evacuees.
