The Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed a student was brought to the hospital around 3 a.m. unresponsive. The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office identified the student as Caleb Wilson, 20.

In a statement, Southern said the decision to cancel recruitment activities was made to ensure the safety and well-being of their student body.

Southern University informed their students on Thursday, February 27, that all membership intake activities for all campus organizations are paused until further notice.
