DAYTON — A Dayton-based filmmaker and Wright State University alumnus has been shortlisted for an Academy Award. Filmmaker Brittany Shyne’s documentary “Seeds,” was one of 15 films shortlisted for the Documentary Feature Film category at the 98th Oscars, the academy announced this week.

The Oscars is set to undergo a radical overhaul as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed a major agreement with ABC will end in the coming years. The acting organisation revealed on Wednesday that Google's YouTube platform has secured exclusive rights to stream the Oscar awards ceremony globally beginning in 2029.
The Academy Awards are moving to YouTube TV starting in 2029. YouTube TV outbid several other offers, including from ABC, to host the awards show that celebrates the best in cinema, Deadline reported. The awards ceremony has been broadcast on ABC since 1976.
Among the leading ones was Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners', which earned recognition in multiple categories, including makeup, cinematography, casting, hairstyling, sound, visual effects, and a double showing in original song, as per Variety.
